Home / Computers / Electronics / SGI Octane 28
When I was a teenager I wanted the graphics powerhouse of that generation. And back then it was hands down SGI. Nothing even came close. It was faster, more powerful and by far more expensive than its competition. SGI's Octane, based upon the Origin 2000 Supercomputers was miles above everything else when it came out. Absolutely breathtaking (and a breathtaking price tag as well). I wanted one the day they came out in 1997, but couldn't afford one until when I purchased from Pixar when they phased them out in the early 2000's -- not long after Toy Story 2. No one ever built computers like this -- and its unlikely they will ever again. Truly Unique.
