Essentially the same design as the P220, the P226 uses a double stack magazines for higher capacity. Originally Chambered in 9x19mm the P226 was one of the "Wonder Nines" in the 80s known for double action triggers and high capacity.
The P226 itself has sub-variants; the P228 and P229 are both compact versions of the double stack P226 design, the pistol is also availble in .40 S&W, .357 Sig and .22lr conversions.
The P226 and variants are in service with local law enforcement,Military (Mk25 & M11) and US Secret Service (P229 in .357 Sig)
Mine is a .40 S&W version converted to .357 Sig with a replacement barrel.
